What people say about Ratio 21

Ratio 21 helped me decide to pursue environmental science and sustainability as my major at UCLA. It was really beneficial for me to have my mentor, Jordan, guiding me throughout my entire college application process and into my freshman year.

I loved learning about the actual inventions people created. Anton’s inventions were really cool and I was super interested in them. I liked Anton’s point on how an idea should be a toy, not a game because you need other people to help you fully flesh out an idea.

I had never had medical students share advice. Some of the activities the visitors did with us required us to put ourselves in the shoes of a doctor, and these experiences really contributed to me assuring myself that I do truly want to go into the medical field.

I loved the Ratio 21 pre-med program. I was intrigued to meet different doctors and their lifestyles. The flexible, asynchronous schedule for meetings was the best choice, and really made this program worthwhile. The final research project was awesome.

Ratio 21 Medical Bootcamp was life changing and really gave me a better look into the medical field. I learned so much and the case studies were so interesting and inspirational to me because I knew that was what I wanted to be part of.

I highly recommend this course for high school students to learn more about what it's like to pursue a career in medicine. It is a long path but a very rewarding career, so knowing if this is something that might interest you early on will give you a great start.

I wish I had this opportunity in high school! So much of what I knew about medicine was through chance encounters with doctors and sporadic shadowing opportunities. I wish I had access to a structured summer program like this as an intro to the field.
